Gary Savard
Teaching Philosophy:
I think that the only way to get students to understand new concepts is by having them practice the concepts and not listen to me lecture. Because of that, I try to be more of a mentor and guide than traditional lecture and exam professor.
Biography:
Gary Savard is a Vermont native, but spent much of his adult life traveling as a U.S. Air Force Officer. He has worked for the Department of Defense as both a military and civilian software architect, engineer and Chief Information Officer. In addition to his military experience, Gary has worked for a variety of private companies as a software architect, systems engineer, software engineer, project manager, database administrator, and in other roles. His experience ranges from avionics and real-time systems to simulations, imaging, medical systems, accounting systems and many other types of software systems development. In addition, he has owned several software development and consulting companies and is CTO of Yachtwhere.com.
Gary brings a wealth of management and technical experience to his classes. . He has traveled the world allowing him to bring an international perspective to his classes.
He has been teaching at Champlain College for over a decade. Gary is currently completing his doctorate in information security.
