John Rogate
“This degree will provide you with
the skills to link the informational needs of an organization
with its managerial requirements,” says MSMIIT Program
Director John Rogate. “You’ll learn a core set
of management skills that employers have identified as critical
in business, including project management, financial decision
making and managing innovation. We deliberately excluded
theoretically-based courses in favor of those with a practical
application.”
This master’s degree focuses on
the effective use of information technology from a management
and decision-making perspective. This depth of instruction
will provide you with the skills and self-confidence to
understand key enabling technologies and to assume a leadership
role in one of an organization’s most vital assets:
information and the intellectual capital that it produces.
John Rogate earned a B.A. in English
and Economics from Herbert H. Lehman College, and a master’s
degree in Information Systems Management from Iona College.
He also earned Education Specialist Certification from Nova
Southeastern University where he is currently completing
his dissertation for a Ph.D. in Computing Technology in
Education.
At Champlain, Rogate fulfills several
academic and administrative functions. In addition to teaching
numerous classes, he is the program director for the bachelor’s
program in Electronic Game Programming. He has been a major
developer of the Champlain College Online programs.
Before coming to Champlain, Rogate worked
in the IT industry in a variety of capacities, from programmer
and systems analyst to information systems manager. He spent
12 years with Digital Equipment Corporation working in both
manufacturing and sales and as an IT manager and senior
consultant. Immediately prior to coming to Champlain, Rogate
was president of Vermont Technology Exchange Company (VTEC)
which provided both hardware and software solutions to businesses
in Vermont and across New England. VTEC was listed as one
of the top 100 companies in Vermont.
