DR. TAMMIE CONSEJO
“Today, colleges and universities, and industrial societies around the world, are facing rapid changes due to technology as we have moved from the Industrial Age to the Information Age. Customization and the concept of service have not traditionally been part of the language of higher education. Champlain College speaks this language.
“Students and society-at-large demand that college graduates acquire not only content knowledge, but the ability to apply that knowledge creatively. Further, students need to possess strong critical thinking skills, work in teams and independently, be life-long learners, and effectively manage change. Students need marketable job skills relevant for the 21st century. Champlain College partners with students to reach their goals.”
Dr. Consejo has worked in the helping professions for more than twenty years. She has experience in K-12 schools, colleges, agencies, and in private practice. For the past twelve years, she has concurrently held positions in college-level teaching, administration, and research at a university, community colleges, and public and private colleges. She brings a real-world perspective not only to every course, but every assignment. The material must be purposeful and applicable or it will not find its way into her courses.
“I have great passion for teaching and learning, and always remember what it is like to be a busy student working toward major educational goals. Essential goals of my own are that students will work hard to prepare for the next steps in their careers, will enjoy their learning, and will gain satisfaction in knowing they have invested wisely in an appropriate, useful education.”
