“I'm the executive director of
a few business units from a joint venture between three
major corporations in the Portuguese economy. The three
corporations are the market leader in the oil industry,
the market leader in the motorway industry (here this industry
is private), and the market leader in the banking/investments
industry. They all got together to provide convenient services
and useful information to drivers (and, of course, make
some money) through electronic channels like the Internet,
interactive TV, kiosks on the gas stations and mobile platforms.
“I'm in charge of the mobile platform,
like palm pilots, last generation cell phones (with Microsoft
windows inside, streaming videos, etc), e-commerce platform
and Telematics services (safety & security, location
based services, etc). I must say that I'm happy with my
job, and I must confess that I was only expecting to have
a job like this in 5 to 8 years from now. But the opportunity
was there and I had to grab it! It's a lot of work and responsibility
as I'm the one who answers to the board.”
