Health Informatics Program

Champlain College’s Health Informatics Program prepares health information management professionals and leaders for a variety of roles within the health care industry.

Health information management provides the critical link between clinicians, patients, government, and regulating agencies through the creation of new ways hospitals and research centers can communicate with one another, and by streamlining the communication between caregivers and patients.

The healthcare industry is quickly moving away from paper-based systems, making the need for skilled employees to manage the growing amount of information central to patient health and the delivery of efficient care.

Through the Division of Continuing Professional Studies, Champlain College offers the following undergraduate degree and professional certificate programs in health informatics:

Our curriculum is based on core competencies the three most guiding organizations in the field of health information management (the American Medical Informatics Association, the Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics and Information Management Education, and the American Health Information Management Association) have determined to be the most important to a graduate’s success in the field of health informatics.

Using this information, we have built a curriculum that will enable our graduates to sit for the prestigious national exams that will result in increased employer interest and higher salaries.
