Cost should never be a barrier to higher education. Don’t let a lack of funds prevent you from achieving your goals. You may be eligible for a variety of financial aid programs, including Pell Grants, Federal Stafford Loans, and VSAC (Vermont Student Assistance Corporation) State Grants.
At Champlain College’s Center for Professional Studies, there are five ways to pay your tuition:
- Financial Aid
- Installment Plan
- Employer Billing
- Company Reimbursement
- Pay in full (money order, checking account, savings account, American Express, Discover or MasterCard accepted)
Installment payment plan
Installment arrangements (for a $25 installment fee) using a secure online payment option that is available 24 hours per day 7 days a week. Payment may be made using electronic checking or savings account payments or using American Express, Discover or MasterCard credit cards (VISA does not participate in this payment program). There will be a convenience fee of 2.75% charged when using a credit card but there is no fee for electronic check or savings payments.
Employer billing
Provide a signed authorization from your supervisor giving us permission to bill your employer. Payment will be due within 30 days of billing. An employer billing form can be found at http://www.champlain.edu/cps/get_started/empbilling.pdf.
Company reimbursement
You may take advantage of this option if you have a pre-approved employer tuition reimbursement plan with Champlain College, in which your employer reimburses you upon successful course completion. Even if your employer reimbursement is 100 percent, we require students to put down a minimum deposit of 20 percent at the time of registration. If, for example, an employer offers a 50 percent reimbursement, the student will be required to put 50 percent down upfront. The remaining balance (80% or 50%) will be processed approximately 30 days from the end of the course(s).
To submit a copy of your employer’s tuition reimbursement plan for consideration, call (802) 860-2777 or e-mail arc@champlain.edu.A note about financial aid for part-time students
Financial aid awards are made upon registration. If you receive aid, you must meet certain enrollment requirements, such as attending each class for which you are registered. In addition, the Federal Stafford Loan Program requires you to be enrolled at least half-time (six credits per semester). Failure to comply with requirements can result in the reduction or cancellation of your financial aid award, leaving you personally liable for payment.
To be eligible for most student loans, you must be enrolled at least half-time in a certificate or degree program. But search all options. Even if you’re enrolled less than half-time, financial aid may be available.
For example, if you’re not in a certificate or degree program and you are a Vermont resident, you may be eligible for a non-degree grant from Vermont Student Assistance Corporation.
And remember to keep copies of your financial aid information for your files. The Financial Aid Office may request financial aid applications for each new academic year.
Financial aid for veterans
Champlain College is approved for veterans by the State Board of Education. Eligible veterans should contact the Financial Aid Office prior to registration.
Military personnel
Champlain College is a DANTES affiliate and can be found in the DANTES External Degree Catalog in print or online. Military personnel wishing to be reimbursed via DANTES must submit DANTES form 1562/31 with their registration
